Information and option pricings

چکیده

How can one relate stock fluctuations and information-based human activities? We present a model of an incomplete market by adjoining the Black-Scholes exponential Brownian motion model for stock fluctuations with a hidden Markov process, which represents the state of information in the investors’ community. The drift and volatility parameters take different values depending on the state of this hidden Markov process. Standard option pricing procedure under this model becomes problematic. Yet, with an additional economic assumption, we provide an explicit closed-form formula for the arbitrage-free price of the European call option. Our model can be discretized via a Skorohod imbedding technique. We conclude with an example of a simulation of IBM stock, which shows that, not surprisingly, information does affect the market. Asian Option Pricing and Volatility

An Asian option is a path-depending exotic option, which means that either the settlement price or the strike of the option is formed by some aggregation of underlying asset prices during the option lifetime. This thesis will focus on European style Arithmetic Asian options where the settlement price at maturity is formed by the arithmetic average price of the last seven days of the underlying ...

Adaptive Finite Element Solution of 1 D European Option Pricing Problems

We present a piecewise Hermite cubic adaptive nite element method for solving a generalised European Black-Scholes problem to guaranteed accuracy. Speciically, we prove a residual-based a posteriori error bound in the L 2 (()-norm, at contract issue, for a continuous Galerkin approximation to the solution using Galerkin orthogonality and weighted strong stability of an associated dual problem. ...
